Following Friday's practice in Vancouver, Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Tristian Jarry was asked if he was on Canada's 55-man long-list submitted to the IIHF in October. Jarry responded with, "No." Jarry also said that he hasn't been undergoing the protocols put in place by the IIHF and IOC such as drug testing.

The 26-year-old has been solid in net for the Penguins over the last two seasons, but his poor showing in the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs may have turned Hockey Canada off from having him on their long-list. Having a goaltender that can thrive in high-pressure situations is what Hockey Canada is likely looking for, and atop that list would be Carey Price, if he returns to NHL action in the next few weeks.

Jarry, a native of Surrey, British Columbia, has appeared in nineteen games for the Penguins this season and has a record of 10-5-4 with a 1.97 G.A.A., a .933 save percentage, and three shutouts. His numbers this season alone should draw the attention of Canada's general manager Doug Armstrong, but it appears that they'll be going in a different direction.
