The Edmonton Oilers announced on Tuesday that they've cancelled practice for precautionary reasons and announced a trio of roster moves.

Defenceman Cody Ceci has been placed in the NHL's COVID-19 protocol, a move that likely triggered practice being cancelled for the day while the team does more testing.

It's unclear if the team is expecting more players to enter the NHL's protocol, or if they're just being extremely cautious and taking a proactive approach by cancelling practice.

In addition to Ceci being placed in COVID protocol, the Oilers announced that Duncan Keith has been put on injured reserve and that they've called up Markus Niemelainen from the Bakersfield Condors (AHL).

The Oilers are scheduled to play the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday night at 10pm ET.
