The waiver wire was fairly busy on Sunday afternoon. According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, forward Ivan Lodnia (Minnesota) and defenceman Eric Gelinas (Carolina) were placed on unconditional waiver for the purpose of contract termination.

Additionally, the Ottawa Senators placed forward Clark Bishop on regular waivers in order to send him to the Belleville Senators of the American Hockey League.

Lodnia, 22, was drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the third round in 2017. Just after the start of the 2021-22 season, the Wild suspended Lodnia for failing to report to the Iowa Heartlanders of the ECHL. Lodnia then opted to return to his home in California, and now is set to have his contract terminated by the Wild.

Gelinas, 30, signed with the Carolina Hurricanes this past off-season after spending the last three years in Europe with Bratislava Slovan and Rogle BK. He didn't appear in any games for the Hurricanes this season, but played in nine games for their AHL affiliate in Chicago, tallying two goals. It appears that Gelinas could be returning to Rogle BK of the Swedish Hockey League, although it's unconfirmed at this time.

Bishop, 25, hasn't played at all this season after getting injured in a pre-season game between Ottawa and Toronto on September 29th. He will report to the Belleville Senators should he clear waivers on Monday afternoon.
