The New York Rangers had announced early on Saturday that forward Mika Zibanejad had tested positive for COVID-19 and, as a result, would be placed on the NHL's COVID-19 protocol list.

It was originally expected that Zibanejad would miss Sunday's matchup with the Buffalo Sabres, but thankfully for Zibanejad and the Rangers, it appears as though the 28-year-old is in the clear after a series of subsequent tests came back negative.

With the skilled center now eligible to come off of the protocol list, he is expected to suit up in Sunday's game in Buffalo after all.

Zibanejad is off to a fairly solid start to the 2021-22 campaign, having posted 14 points through 17 games, so he'll look to pick up right where he left off as the Rangers look to get back into the win column after coming up on the wrong end of a 2-1 decision to the Toronto Maple Leafs earlier this week.
