Following yesterday's press conference at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec Premier Francois Legault told RDS that his government will be meeting with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman "in the coming months" to discuss the potential return for the Nordiques.

"I spoke with [Mr. Bettman], and we have meetings with him in the coming months," Legault said.

Legault added, "You have to look at who is ready to invest. We have an amphitheater in Quebec that has already been built. We are in the process of making contacts with Mr. Bettman. We are looking at what we need to bring back the Nordiques. I think we are capable of having a second team in Quebec."

If the Quebec government makes an official bid to Gary Bettman, than it will be the second time in six years that someone has tried to bring back the Nordiques.

In 2015, when the NHL announced they were taking official bids for expansion, they received two. One from Bill Foley in Vegas, and one from Quebecor, a media company in the province. Unfortunately, Quebec City was not chosen for an expansion franchise, while Vegas was.

It's been twenty-six years since the original Nordiques left for Denver, Colorado. Could Francois Legault's government convince Gary Bettman to bring them back via expansion or relocation? Only time will tell, but it will be interesting to see how they build their bid to the NHL, if they end up submitting one.
