This seems like one of the easiest things to avoid in hockey, yet it's still happening at the highest levels of the game. There were two incidents Saturday night where a player caused damage to their own goaltender by pushing an opposing player into them. One of those incidents has led to a netminder being sidelined.

The first game late in the first period of the game between the Montreal Canadiens and Detroit Red Wings. The Wings' Dylan Larkin took the puck from Jeff Petry and a foot race ensued to Montreal's net. Just before Larkin gets there, Petry gave him a shove in the back. The result was Larkin smashing into goaltender Jake Allen, a hit that would take the goaltender out of the game and force Montreal to call up Cayden Primeau from Laval.

Meanwhile, in the game between the New York Rangers and Columbus Blue Jackets, Barclay Goodrow pushed Alexandre Texier into Igor Shesterkin. Shesterkin would go down hard. He managed to stay in the game. The Rangers Sammy Blais went after Texier, which seems like a bit of a pointless move considering there was nothing Texier could do.
