Late in the first period of Saturday night's game against the Detroit Red Wings, goaltender Jake Allen left after being collided with by Dylan Larkin. Larkin was cutting to the net, was off balance, and was pushed slightly by Jeff Petry into Jake Allen.

Allen was pulled by concussion spotters following the collision and Samuel Montembeault came in and played the rest of the game as Montreal went on to lose in overtime by a score of 3-2.

After the game, Canadiens head coach Dominique Ducharme said that Allen went through concussion protocol and it didn't look great near the end of it, which is why they kept him out of the game for the rest of the night.

With the Canadiens playing again Sunday night in Boston, Ducharme announced that the team has recalled Cayden Primeau from the Laval Rocket. Primeau could get the start in net tomorrow, given that Montembeault played the majority of Saturday's game, but Ducharme wouldn't confirm that as of yet.

Tomorrow's tilt will be the first time that archrivals Montreal and Boston have met since February 12th 2020 when the Canadiens lost 4-1.
