The Ottawa Senators announced on Monday morning that they've cancelled today's practice out of an abundance of caution relating to their current COVID-19 situation.

"The Sens COVID situation continues to unfold. We've seen players go into protocol since coming back from their road trip last week. Now a full cancellation of practice for today," Ian Mendes of The Athletic said.

On Friday, forward Austin Watson tested positive for COVID-19 and will be away from the team for another week or so. Ottawa then added two more names to the NHL's COVID protocol list on Sunday night, defenceman Nick Holden and assistant coach Jack Capuano.

Following the announcement of Monday's practice being cancelled, the Senators communications Twitter account announced that forwards Connor Brown and Dylan Gambrell have been played in the NHL's COVID protocol.

In a pair of corresponding moves relating to last night and this morning's additions to the COVID protocol list, the Senators have recalled defenceman Erik Brannstrom as well as forwards Scott Sabourin and Egor Sokolov.

With four players and one coach now on the NHL's COVID protocol list, the NHL will more than likely be keeping an eye on the team's test results in today and tomorrow morning before the Senators head to Boston.
