One of the teams that is reportedly heavily in on Jack Eichel right now aside from the Vegas Golden Knights are the Calgary Flames.

Throughout all the summer, there where whispers that the Flames were a dark horse in the Eichel sweep stakes, but in recent weeks they were being discussed as frontrunners. That may now be changed going forward, as when speaking with media on Wednesday Flames general manager Brad Treliving downplayed the possibility of his team trading for the Buffalo Sabres forward, saying that it's business as usual for him and his staff. Head coach Darryl Sutter also seemed to shut down the notion, saying he believes it's a bit of a media thing.

Whether these two are being honest or are trying to deceive the media is unknown, but it wouldn't exactly make a ton of sense for the Flames to acquire him right now. They have gotten off to a terrific 6-2-1 start and would have to part with likely multiple members of their current team for a player who may not be able to play at all this season due to the neck surgery he requires to step on the ice once again.
