Nearly a week ago, Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews sat in front of reporters and gave his thoughts on the team's sexual abuse scandal. Toews' comments regarding former General Manager Stan Bowman and Senior Vice-President Al MacIsaac seemed a bit on the defensive side.

"Stan [Bowman] and Al [MacIsaac]...they're not directly complicit in the activities that happened. It's not up to me to comment on whether they would like to deal with it differently or not...I have a lot of respect for them as people. They're good people," Toews said last Thursday.

On Wednesday, Toews told reporters that "his heart goes out to Kyle Beach".

"I can't undo what happened, I'd just like to know more and more about what Kyle feels & what he wants & what he envisions for the future. Maybe someone like me in my position can make a difference," Toews added.

The Blackhawks captain went on to admit that his comments last Thursday took away the attention from Kyle Beach and when asked about his former coach Joel Quenneville, who resigned as head coach of the Florida Panthers last week, Toews said:

"I haven't talked to Joel yet. You know how I feel about the relationships I've had with some of these people. But at the end of the day, I realize my comments about the whole situation took attention away from Kyle and his situation and what he actually went through and towards the relationships I mentioned, whether it's Stan, Al, or Joel. I have a long history with Joel, but that's not really the point here."
