Hopefully someone from the Vancouver Canucks bought their goaltender a steak dinner following last night's game against the New York Rangers, because he definitely deserved it. Thatcher Demko stopped 23 of 25 shots to lead the Canucks to a victory over the Rangers 3-2 in overtime, but it was a series of saves late in the third that had everyone talking.

With just under three minutes left in the final frame, and Vancouver on the penalty kill, Demko seemed to go into superhero mode, making three or four incredible saves in a row, including a scorpion style save where he put up his leg while lying on the ice on his stomach. The puck hit his skate blade and went behind the net. On top of that, Demko had lost his blocker and stick. He tried to get the referee to stop the play, but it's allowed to proceed, so Demko just continued to make saves. When the whistle finally went, you can see teammates come over to give him a tap on the pads to acknowledge his stellar netminding in the dying minutes to preserve the tie game. It was even named to play of the night on ESPN's top 10, something that doesn't happen often when it comes to hockey. Check it out:
