I don't often offer opinion here, but this statement seems weak at best, and utterly tone deaf at worst. Beach came forward with these allegations over 10 years ago and not a thing was done until a lawsuit was filed in 2020. For the Blackhawks to even mention "winning championships" in this statement regarding Beach seems crass and uncaring. The recently released independent investigation into Beach's allegations specifically mentions that the team seemed more concerned about winning a Stanley Cup than the life of a young man who was assaulted by a staff member. Many responders brought this up.
They even put it before ethics 😂😂😂😂😂 I'm 🪦🪦— Regular Season Jay (@SandmanSnipes) October 27, 2021
Why the fuck are you talking about championships in this message?— Graham Filek (@gramo8) October 27, 2021
"committed to winning Championships really" you added that in? 🤦🏽♂️ After reading the Report about what happened to #KyleBeach that was disturbing & disgusting. I hope #GaryBettman fines U more and takes away Draft picks for years to come. This Organization is a disgrace to Hockey— kareemslick (@kareemslick) October 27, 2021
To be honest, perhaps the Blackhawks would have been better off just sitting this one out completely.
It's worth noting that Beach brought up former Blackhawks' Joel Quenneville's continued insistence that he knew nothing of the allegations, saying he simply can't believe Quenneville is still saying this despite the fact that meetings took place in his office after Beach came forward. Quenneville is behind the bench for the Florida Panthers tonight in the team's game against the Boston Bruins. It could end up being one of his last in the NHL. He is set to meet with Gary Bettman, the commissioner of the NHL, in New York tomorrow.
How Joel Quenneville was allowed to step behind a NHL bench tonight is beyond me. Given what we've learned in the last 30 hours, there's no reason for him to be working while the league process plays out.— Chris Johnston (@reporterchris) October 27, 2021
