Los Angeles Kings general manager Rob Blake met with the media on Wednesday afternoon to give an update on injuries to defencemen Drew Doughty and Sean Walker.

On the weekend, it was reported that the Kings and Doughty avoided a worst case scenario following a knee-on-knee during the third period of Friday night's game against the Dallas Stars. The Stars player who stuck out his knee, Jani Hakanpaa, was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct for kneeing on the play.

Rob Blake told reporters that Doughty suffered a tibial plateau contusion. He will be out of game action for eight weeks, and will begin skating in six weeks.

As for Sean Walker, Rob Blake gave some bad news. The 26-year-old suffered a torn ACL and MCL which will require surgery and keep him out for the remainder of the 2021-22 season.

Walker was tied up with Blues forward David Perron following a faceoff during Monday night's game. Perron fell to the ice, but Walker's leg was stuck between Perron's legs causing the injury.

The Los Angeles Kings are back in action on Thursday night when they host the Winnipeg Jets.
