The Tampa Bay Lightning announced on Wednesday that forward Nikita Kucherov will miss eight-to-ten weeks after he underwent surgery for an unspecified lower-body injury. The earliest Kucherov could return is December 16th against the Ottawa Senators.

Kucherov suffered the injury in Tampa Bay's third game of the season on October 16th against the Washington Capitals. He got tangled up Capitals forward Garnett Hathaway. Kucherov left the game and did not return.

Just over a week ago, the Lightning reportedly placed their Russian sniper on long-term injured reserve according to CapFriendly.

The Maykop, Russia native was off to a solid start to his 2021-22 campaign. In three games, he had four points (three goals, one assist), no penalty minutes and was a plus/minus zero.
