The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced on Wednesday that New Jersey Devils defenceman P.K. Subban has been fined $5,000 for a dangerous trip on Calgary Flames forward Milan Lucic.

The incident occurred just over half-way through the first period. Lucic was in his own zone with the puck when Subban comes from behind him and trips him. Subban appears to kick at the back of Lucic's right leg, causing him to fall.

Subban was assessed a two-minute minor penalty on the play for tripping.

This is the second time this month that Subban has been caught for a dangerous trip, although the first time, he didn't recieve a fine. The other incident occurred during a pre-season game between the Devils and Rangers. Subban did a similar kicking motion to the back of the legs of Rangers forward Ryan Reaves.

In five games this season, Subban has yet to record a point, has two penalty minutes, and is a minus-four.
