The Toronto Maple Leafs recently relaxed dress code rules for game days. Players no longer have to wear a suit and tie and can instead dress in "business casual" clothes. Many have had a lot to say about this and it should be no surprise whatsoever that Don Cherry hates it.

"I'd like to talk about Matthews for a minute," Cherry said on his most recent podcast.

"Evidently it was pretty tough for him to get dressed, 10 million dollars and he can't get dressed?," said Cherry.

In the past, Cherry had praised Matthews for his fashion sense, saying that he and Henrik Lundqvist were two of the best dressed players in the entire league. He's not liking it so much anymore, though.

"You see him coming in now, he's dressed, you can't say he's a slob, but it's like he's going to a barbeque or something like that and I just don't understand it, I can't understand it."

"I just don't understand, this guy had everything going for him last year and now he has to change everything," added Cherry.

To hear Cherry crap on someone because of their fashion choices is a bit ironic. Yes, Cherry wears suits. That doesn't put him among the best dressed, or anywhere close to it.

Toronto and Arizona remain the only two teams in the NHL to have relaxed their game day dress codes. Arizona's is a bit different from Toronto's as players can essentially wear whatever they want, while the Maple Leafs have insisted that players adhere to business casual.
