It would appear as though New Jersey Devils goaltender MacKenzie Blackwood has officially begun the process that will make him eligible for selection to Canada's 2022 Olympic Men's hockey team.

After stating during the NHL's offseason that he was among those who remained unvaccinated, Blackwood revealed that he hadn't completely shut the door on receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.

Now, just a few short weeks later, Blackwood is a week into his first round of the vaccine, and will soon be eligible for shot number two, which will put the Thunder Bay, Ontario native in line to travel with his team in time for their first trip to Canada on December 3rd in Winnipeg.

Of course, until he is fully vaccinated and until 14 days has elapsed following his second dose, Blackwood will continue to follow the protocols for unvaccinated players.

The NHL now has just one unvaccinated player remaining in Detroit Red Wings forward Tyler Bertuzzi, who was just forced to sit out during Saturday's contest against the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre due to his ineligibility to cross the border.
