Former NHLer Troy Brouwer, who quietly hung up his skates in 2020 after playing parts of 14 NHL seasons, will find himself back in the game this season, albeit in a different capacity.

Brouwer, 36, suited up in 851 career regular season NHL games, split between the Chicago Blackhawks, Washington Capitals, Calgary Flames, Florida Panthers and St. Louis Blues, ultimately ending his playing career in St. Louis. According to a report, however, Brouwer appears to be heading back to the Blues organization.

On Saturday, NHLdotcom's Lou Korac reported that Brouwer has accepted a position as a scout for the Blues for the 2021-22 season.

Brouwer, a Vancouver, BC native, was drafted in the 7th round, 214th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks back in 2004. He won a Stanley Cup with the Hawks back in 2010 and made a run to the Western Conference Finals with the Blues during his first stint there in 2015-16, though the Blues ultimately fell short, losing their WCF series against the San Jose Sharks 4-2. The Sharks would, of course, go on to lose in the Stanley Cup Finals to the Pittsburgh Penguins in what would be the first of back-to-back Cups for the Pens.

Brouwer was a fierce competitor on the ice and if his work ethic on the player evaluation side of things is anywhere near that same level, this could end up being a win for the Blues organization.
