The Ottawa Senators have decided to trade away Logan Brown, the team's first round pick (11th overall) in the 2016 draft. Brown, who was born in North Carolina but raised in St. Louis, has been traded to the Blues for Zach Sanford and a conditional 2022 draft pick. If Brown plays more than 30 games in the NHL this season, the pick will be removed from the exchange.

Brown has not been happy with his NHL time while in Ottawa and it was rumoured a trade was likely coming. The 23-year-old centre has managed just 30 games in the NHL so far, spending the rest of his time with Bellville of the AHL. He's recorded one goals and eights assists over that stretch.

Sandford, a winger, has spent the last three seasons with the Blues. He was drafted in the second round by the Washington Capitals in 2013. He's played 209 regular season games, recording 38 goals and 36 assists for 74 points.
