With the NHL pushing for full vaccination for attendance at live games this season, several teams have already issued official statements to the public that they will require proof of full vaccination prior to entry into their arenas.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are among those teams, and despite having absolutely no fans in attendance in 2020-21, MLSE has announced that it plans to have full attendance at Scotiabank Arena when the 2021-22 kicks off.

"We believe we are able to create the safest experience possible and are planning for a return to full capacity in 2021," the statement read.

"Our ticketing rollout allows for flexibility in the coming weeks to meet the process required to achieve that. We expect more direction to be available to us in the coming days."

While current guidelines for indoor sporting events in the province of Ontario limit organizations to 1,000 spectators, Dr. Kieran Moore, Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health, has stated that he would be in favor of increasing capacity limits as long as mandatory vaccination requirements are in place.

"I would think that the government should assess that if everyone in that environment is immunized then that's a very low risk event," Moore said on the subject of removing capacity restrictions.

"So I would hope that the government will make a decision to enable them to move forward even if we have other restrictions in place."

The capacity at Scotiabank Arena is just under 20,000, containing 19,800 seats for concerts and other events and 18,800 for hockey games.
