Colton Sceviour, a veteran of 500 NHL games, has a professional tryout for training camp. The Edmonton Oilers have announced the 32-year-old will join their team in the hopes of getting a contract for the 2021-22 season.

Sceviour spent the 2020-21 season playing with the Pittsburgh Penguins, notching five goals, five assists and two penalty minutes in 46 games. Before joining the Penguins, the 32-year-old played parts of his career with the Dallas Stars, who drafted him in the fourth round (112th overall) in 2007, as well as the Florida Panthers.

Over his 10-year career, the native of Red Deer has scored 64 goals and 87 assists for 151 points. In 19 career playoff games, Sceviour has produced three goals and five assists.

An injury to Dylan Holloway, who is out for at least three months after undergoing surgery on his wrist, may open up the door for Sceviour to get a spot with Edmonton. Holloway was expected to challenge for a spot on the team this season.
