According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Carolina Hurricanes have hired Mike Futa as a Senior Consultant to General Manager Don Waddell.

"Michael brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our front office. He knows what it takes to build a championship-caliber team, and we're excited to add him to our organization," Waddell said.

Futa, 53, played a key role in helping the Los Angeles Kings win two Stanley Cup in a three-year span. He spent thirteen seasons with the Kings, starting out as the Director of Amateur Scouting for the first seven years before transitioning to Vice President of Hockey Operations for three years, and then finishing up his tenure in Los Angeles as the Assistant General Manager for three years.

During Futa's time as Director of Amateur Scouting with the Kings, they drafted Drew Doughty, Brayden Schenn, Tyler Toffoli, Tanner Pearson, and Adrian Kempe among others.
