The Edmonton Oilers announced on Wednesday that one of the club's top prospects, Dylan Holloway, underwent a surgical procedure on his wrist on Tuesday, which is expected to sideline him for at least the next 3 months.

This is the second surgery that Holloway has had on the injured wrist this year, the first occurring after the 19-year-old suffered a scaphoid fracture while playing his second season with the University of Wisconsin.

Holloway was selected by the Oilers in the first round, with the 14th overall pick in 2020 and had signed his entry-level contract with the Oilers back in April of this year.

It is expected that Holloway will work with the team's medical staff in Edmonton while rehabilitating the injury.

This, of course, eliminates the possibility of Holloway challenging for a spot on the NHL roster in training camp next week.

Holloway registered 35 points in just 23 games for the University of Wisconsin in his sophomore year last season.
