The Edmonton Oilers were one of the busier teams during the off-season. They added Duncan Keith, Zach Hyman, Warren Foegele and Cody Ceci. General Manager Ken Holland locked up Darnell Nurse to an eight-year extension that will kick in ahead of the 2022-23 season, and he also re-signed forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and defenceman Darnell Nurse.

With the additions he's made this off-season, along with having arguably the best duo in the NHL with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, Ken Holland says the Oilers' need to win now.

"The time is now," Holland said to Sportsnet's Mark Spector. "In my mind, the time to try and take a step. We've been 12th in the league, 11th in the league. But the aspirations are far greater than that."

"I wanted to bring in some people who have won before," Holland said. "(Zach) Hyman is 29, Foegele is 25 - they're in the prime of their careers. Duncan Keith is going to have a lesser role (than in Chicago), but he's bringing in his resume. He's played in lots of situations at the international level and National Hockey League level. He's been brought in for what he can do on and off the ice."

The Oilers will kick-off their 2021-22 campaign on Wednesday, October 13th when they welcome the Vancouver Canucks to Rogers Place.
