Breaking news coming out of the league on Sunday is that NHL players will be heading to Beijing to play in the Olympics. It's a reality that many fans have been hoping for, for quite some time.

According to Hockey Wanderlust's Ken Yaffe, sources close to the league confirmed that the NHL to the Olympics is a done deal.

Of course, if there is a huge COVID-19 outbreak, this announcement could be reversed, but everyone is hoping that it will stay under control.

The league has been somewhat hesitant in letting its players travel to play in the Olympics due to injury concerns and disrupting the season, which is still under COVID-19 protocols.

However, the 2020 CBA agreement extension promised players a best effort to allow them to participate in the Olympics in exchange for other factors including the playoff bubble.

It's great news to hear for the NHL, and it appears that the best of the best will be playing for that gold medal.
