Some good news for the Montreal Canadiens on the injury front. Habs head coach Dominique Ducharme provided a brief update on the status of goaltender Carey Price Thursday after he underwent knee surgery in July. At the time, Montreal would only say he would be ready for the start of the 2021-22 season, which is October 13th for the Canadiens. However, it appears he'll be back on the ice before then.

Marc Antoine Godin of The Athletic spoke with Ducharme, who told him Price will be there at the beginning of training camp. This is great news for the Canadiens as it confirms the surgery went well and there should be no long-term effects.

Translation: "Dominique Ducharme says he expects Carey Price to be there at the start of training camp, if not in the next few days."

Many have wondered if the Canadiens might have made Price's injury seem worse than it actually was in order to make the Seattle Kraken think twice about grabbing him at the expansion draft. Price left himself exposed so Montreal could protect backup goaltender Jake Allen. Kraken GM Ron Francis admitted that the team thought long and hard about nabbing Price, but ultimately decided to find their starting goaltender through free agency, signing Philipp Grubauer to a six-year deal.
