If Corey Perry makes it to the open market tomorrow at 12 p.m. ET, one of Montreal's playoff opponents will take a stab at trying to sign the veteran forward. According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Tampa Bay Lightning are interested and will pursue Perry tomorrow if he's not signed by the Canadiens.

"As Tampa looks to reshape part of its roster, one player I believe they'll pursue, if available, is Corey Perry. The Canadiens are still going to try to keep him, but if he hits the market, TB will be one the interested teams," Pagnotta said in a tweet on Tuesday.

Perry, 36, signed with the Canadiens just a couple weeks before the 2020-21 season and he turned out to be one of the better signings during last year's free agent period. In 49 games, Perry had 21 points (9 G, 12 A), 39 penalty minutes, and was a -4. He provided plenty of leadership and experience to Montreal's young core during their run to the Stanley Cup Final, and added 10 points (4 G, 6 A) along the way.
