There was a reported mutual interest between the Arizona Coyotes and Florida Panthers defenseman Anton Stralman on the Swedish defenseman potentially heading to the desert this summer.

Much of the speculation was about Stralman relishing the opportunity to play with countryman Oliver-Ekman Larsson in Arizona, but with Ekman-Larsson having been moved to the Vancouver Canucks, along with RFA Conor Garland on Friday, it's unclear whether or not Stralman would still consider the move.

Stralman, 34, owns a 16-team no-trade list clause in his contract and has the ability to block a trade to the Coyotes if he does not wish to waive his NTC to accept a trade to Arizona.

Stralman has one season remaining on his current deal, which carries a cap hit of $5.5M.

The Coyotes have really picked a lane here in the rebuild process by agreeing to pick up these short-term boat anchor deals in order to acquire picks and/or younger assets.

The Coyotes' rebuild appears to be one to continue to watch closely.
