A hush fell over Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles as Vancouver Canucks defenseman Tyler Myers was hurt after blocking a shot in the throat/collarbone area.

This is one that hurts just watching the replay.

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Tyler Myers was hurt after he went down to block a shot during Wednesday night's game against the Los Angeles Kings at Crypto.com Arena, immediately sparking concerns about his safety.

With the Kings pressing for the winning goal in overtime with the man-advantage, Myers took it upon himself to block forward Kevin Fiala's attempt to secure the extra point for Los Angeles; the puck appeared to strike Myers directly in his throat/collarbone area, and he immediately collapsed to the ice in distress.

The play was halted by the on-ice officials, while Myers remained down on the ice in severe pain for several moments before eventually requiring assistance to make it back to the bench.

He remained hunched over the entire time, briefly paused to sit on the bench for a moment, and then immediately began making his way back toward the team dressing room with the training staff - all while continuing to stay hunched over in pain.

The veteran Canucks defenseman has 18 points (3G, 15A) so far in 54 games played this year.

The Canucks would help ease the pain of their teammate by winning 4-3 in OT; Connor Garland scored the winner.

At a physically imposing 6'8, Myers is one of the tallest players to have ever laced up a pair of skates at the National Hockey League level. He's also played for the Winnipeg Jets.
