The Edmonton Oilers still have time to match the offer sheets put forth by the St. Louis Blues, and now it's been revealed they've already made on big decision.

This past week, the St. Louis Blues officially tendered not one but two offer sheets to the Edmonton Oilers, and while the Oilers likely can't match both deals with their salary cap the way it is, they've made a decision on Dylan Holloway. That report comes from renowned NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman, who has seemingly confirmed that the team will go ahead and match the offer sheet signed by winger Dylan Holloway.

«I believe the Oilers will match the offer for Holloway.»

- Elliotte Friedman

This report all but confirms that they won't do the same for Broberg, who would likely need a trade of Cody Ceci or Brett Kulak to match salaries, and with nothing imminent, it appears Broberg will move to St. Louis and look to improve his playing time in the absence of Torey Krug.

As for Holloway, the 22-year old came alive in the Stanley Cup Playoffs last year, tallying 2 goals and 7 points in a limited role over 25 games, and with the team needing cheap depth around their stars, he makes perfect sense to keep around. With the additions of Jeff Skinner and Victor Arvidsson, he will likely slot in on the third line alongside Adam Henrique and Corey Perry/Evander Kane, with 2024/25 being the time he's expected to break out.

Things could change between now and the seven day mark after the offer sheets were tendered, but as of now, all signs point towards Dylan Holloway returning to Edmonton after a breakout run in the playoffs.
