After news of Torey Krug's devastating injury, there has now been an intriguing new report of a major failed trade between the Ducks and the Blues.

Following a stellar career, the future of Torey Krug may be in jeopardy, as his pre-arthritic changes in his left ankle leave him vulnerable to missing the entire 2024/25 campaign.

After this news, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period dropped an intriguing report on social media, revealing that serious whispers emerged early in July about a potential deal to move on from the 33-year old defenseman.

There was some chatter earlier this month of a potential trade with Anaheim that fell through, due to Krug not waiving his NTC and a potential nagging injury. If Krug is out for the season, the Blues can place him and his $6.5M cap hit on LTIR.

The report states that it was the Anaheim Ducks looking to acquire Krug, but with his no-trade clause, he used it instead of accepting a deal to the Ducks given the outlook of their immediate future with rebuilding. Any time missed for the veteran Krug would be devastating to him and the Blues, but one positive note is that they would save a significant $6.5 million in the upcoming year if they were to place him on LTIR.

If not, it's unclear to see where his future lays, as he carries that huge cap hit while playing for a team that's unlikely to make a push for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but for now, we wait and see what the update on his devastating ankle diagnosis is.
