Speaking with media on Monday, Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin said that prospect Jordan Harris will return to Northeastern University Huskies for the 2021-22 season.

The organization is fully on board with this plan, and both they and Harris himself believe this is the correct move for his development. It will be the 20-year-old's fourth and final season with the Huskies. In 19 games this season, he finished third in team scoring with 19 points, six of which were goals. He also served as one of the team's assistant captains for the first time.

Many expected Harris to announce he was finished with college hockey and would go pro for the upcoming season, but that has turned out not to be the case. Still, he is very young and will likely be able to take an even bigger step forward offensively next season. In 91 career college games, he has 10 goals and 53 points.

According to Pierre McGuire, this has nothing to do with Harris wanting to wait until he's a free agent to sign with another team. Appearing on TSN 690, McGuire mentioned Harris will be named captain next season, something he doesn't want to miss out on, and wants to complete more education before making the jump to pro-level hockey.
