These kinds of goals are always good for a laugh. Unless you're a goaltender. Then you likely cringe because, chances are, you've been there before.

During Sunday night's AHL game between the Rockford IceHogs and the Iowa Wild, defenceman Cody Franson got the puck right off a faceoff and ripped it from just over the red line. The shot was a bit of a knuckle-baller and ends up beating goaltender Hunter Jones clean. You can see his shoulders instantly slump when he realizes the puck went in the net.

The goal wouldn't help the Ice Hogs much as they still lost the game 5-3. Franson, by the way, is a veteran of 550 NHL games with Nashville, Toronto, Buffalo and Chicago. He has also spent some time in the KHL. His contract with Rockford is for the AHL only this season.
