This one is just flat-out ugly. Early in Sunday's AHL game between the Stockton Heat and Laval Rocket, the Heat's Martin Pospisil went down in considerable pain and would need help getting off the ice after a dangerous knee-on-knee hit by Laval's Yannick Veilleux. There was no excuse for this one. It was a straight on knee-on-knee and never should have happened. Veilleux, as you can see in the video, intitally went to the penalty box. He was given a five minute major for kneeing, but was also booted from the game. These are the kinds of hits you hate to see and, fair warning, the slow motion replay is not for anyone who considered themselves squeamish. You can see Pospisil's leg twist very awkwardly as a result of the impact. He is, obviously, out for the game and will be lucky not to miss considerable time.

Pospisil, 21, is a former fourth round draft pick of the Calgary Flames, while Veilleux, 28, is a veteran of the AHL and ECHL.
