Despite some big offseason changes that included bringing in forwards like Taylor Hall and Eric Staal, the Buffalo Sabres are in an all too familiar spot for themselves, currently sitting dead last in the entire NHL with just 16 points on the season.

While it has no doubt been a disappointing year, it isn't anything that defenceman Rasmus Ristolainen, who is in his eighth season with the team, isn't used to.

"When it's your eighth year and it's been almost identical to the years in the past, at least I have a thick skin," he said to The Athletic's John Vogl. "I know how to handle it. You've got to keep your confidence up and you've got to still work hard. You can't lose your shit after a few losses."

"One way or the other, we need to get going. I feel like we need one win and we relieve the pressure in the team, and then maybe we can put some more wins together."

To say this season has been a train wreck for the Sabres would be putting it very mildly. Taylor Hall, Jeff Skinner, and Jack Eichel have combined for five goals on the year, while the latter is having more and more trade speculation surrounding his name. After going through what was already supposed to be a rebuild the last six or so seasons, Sabres fans may have to prepare to watch their team try it all over from scratch once again.
