With the 2020-21 season quickly slipping away, it appears the Buffalo Sabres are willing to listed to offers on just about everyone on the team, and that includes captain Jack Eichel. Appearing on Hockey Night in Canada Saturday, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman stated that Sabres GM Kevyn Adams is willing to hear proposals on anything that might improve the team.

"Another loss again today, they've now lost 6 games in a row," said Friedman during Saturday's Headlines segment. "Kevyn Adams had a zoom call with the media yesterday where he called the way they are playing unacceptable. He has, as he said, been talking to just about everybody in the league to see what is out there and the word is that the Buffalo Sabres are wide open and that they are listening on all options."

"I heard there have been a lot of questions that have been asked about Sam Reinhart, I've heard that there have been questions asked about Eric Staal in addition to some of the other names that you would expect." said Friedman."

It was noted that the only two players on the team with no-movement clauses are Eichel and Jeff Skinner. I get the impression that Skinner would be more than willing to move his NMC clause at this point for a fresh change of scenery. Adams has insisted that Eichel has not asked to be dealt, but you have to wonder if he's in the same boat as Skinner right now, where a new home might be just the thing he needs to get his game back.

Trading Eichel is likely a last resort for the Sabres at this juncture, but the team is certainly getting close to a point where anything that might change their fortunes is at least worth considering. Buffalo has a dismal 6-12-3 record. Many are calling for a coaching change and I get the sense that's coming sooner rather than later, although it might just be window-dressing at this point. While Ralph Krueger should definitely shoulder some of the blame for the team's awful performance, the Sabres appears to be in trouble from top to bottom.
