With the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China less than eleven months away, Hockey Canada is preparing for a training camp before the 2021-22 NHL season. According to Chris Johnston of Sportsnet, Hockey Canada is planning on holding an orientation/training camp in September.

"We're still not sure 100 per cent NHL players are going, but I think it's a good sign anyway that Hockey Canada is looking at holding an orientation for its men's team in September," Johnston said on March 6th's edition of Saturday Headlines.

It's not official if NHL players will be participating at the 2022 Winter Olympics as of yet. During the CBA discussions last summer, both the NHL and NHLPA agreed to return to the 2022 and 2026 games. The NHL and NHLPA will now have to agree to a deal with the International Ice Hockey Federation, and International Olympic Committee for participation at both the 2022 and 2026 Olympics.

Canada is currently ranked first in the IIHF rankings, and will be in Group A with the United States (6th), 2018 silver medalists Germany (7th), and the host nation China (32nd).
