Per TSN's Darren Dreger, Buffalo Sabres GM Kevyn Adams is working the phones aggressively in an attempt to initiate a trade to try and improve his club.

Dreger made an appearance on WGR 550 Sportsradio on Friday, stating what I believe most of us were already assuming in that Adams is pushing for a deal to try to spark something in Buffalo, as his team has failed to reach the expectations that were set the moment he inked Taylor Hall to a 1-year, $8M deal during the offseason.

"Adams is trying. He's working aggressively looking for a trade," Dreger said. "He's looking to upgrade in every possible scenario, it's just like every other (general) manager that's struggled."

As with any trade scenario, it will take some time to put something together that feels like enough of an upgrade to satisfy the Sabres' GM, as well as the team's ownership group, but at this point, Dreger stated that nothing is really close here in the early stages.

"Lots of conversations, but really no substance to the conversations for a myriad of reasons."

One of the reasons that Dreger could be alluding to is the mandatory 14-day quarantine period that a player would face crossing the border, which limits any potential interest in dealing with any of the 7 Canadian franchises.

This doesn't necessarily mean that Adams is looking to move either of Eichel or Hall at this point, as there is still over a month remaining until we reach the April 12th trade deadline. This could just be a scenario where Adams is looking for a player or players who will come in and jump start the offense in Buffalo and get some of the other players going in an attempt to drive up their value ahead of the deadline to maximize any potential return on a rental, such as Hall.

Nevertheless, it's an exciting thought that we may see the tradewinds begin to pick up here in the not-too-distant future.
