When the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Calgary Flames locked horns on January 26th, I don't think anyone could have anticipated the chaos that would ensue at the end of the game, with Leafs defender Jake Muzzin trolling Flames winger Matthew Tkachuk by flipping the puck at him after edging out the Flames 4-3 as a sort of "how's that for payback?" moment after Tkachuk accidentally on purpose tumbled onto downed goaltender Jack Campbell just one game earlier.

In case you missed it..

Tkachuk was absolutely fired up as a result, and ended up charging Muzzin while the rest of the Flames just sort of allowed things to unfold without much of a retaliation. However, according to Tkachuk's teammate Johnny Gaudreau, the Flames didn't even see Muzzin's slap-in-the-face, which is why there was not much backup provided.

On a recent appearance on the Spittin' Chiclets podcast, Gaudreau revealed that Tkachuk had been so upset by the whole ordeal that he did not actually stop to explain what had occurred in the first place, and that most of the team didn't know what happened until they saw it on TSN's SportsCentre.

"We saw on SportsCentre. You could see all five of us were skating off to go to the bench, none of us saw. We felt bad, but we play Toronto soon so I'm sure he'll get them back," said Johnny Hockey.

The Flames and the Leafs will lock up again on February 22nd, and if Gaudreau's comments are any indicator, we can surely expect some fireworks and a little payback from the Flames, making it a must-watch contest.
