The Great One has high praise for Oilers star Leon Draisaitl

NHL legend Wayne Gretzky had some great things to say about current Oiler superstar, Leon Draisaitl, in a recent interview with Mark Spector of Sportsnet.

"The thing about Leon is, he's an unreal passer, but he's a true goal scorer too. When I played with Brett Hull, if I gave him the puck in the slot, it was in the net. Me and Connor (McDavid)...we have to work for our goals. Leon is just a natural," Gretzky said.

Gretzky also discussed the incredible run Draisaitl and McDavid are on early in the season.

"Those two guys are so special, I think they can," said Gretzky. "How cool is it? It's so similar to myself and Mark (Messier) in that they have two players, a 1A and a 1A. One is as good as the other. One was an MVP player and renowned as the best player in the world. Then Leon built his own pedigree, and now he's right there with Connor."

"It's so unique to have two of the greatest players in the game playing on the same team." He added.

As of Saturday afternoon, the Oilers duo sit first and second in NHL scoring. McDavid has 24 points (8 G, 16 A), while Draisaitl has 22 points (7 G, 15 A).
