Last night John Tortorella benched one of his star players when asked why today he roasted the player for a specific thing.

Tortorella Benches Flyers Star

Last night Flyers forward Joel Farabee played just 56 seconds in the team's game. Usually one would suspect injury when this happens. However, Farabee was on the bench the entire time indicating he was just benched.

He played just a total of 56 seconds in the Flyers' OT loss.
Despite not playing Farabee stayed involved in the game working the door for his teammates throughout the night. After the game, Tortorella was asked why Farabee was not played and he gave a savage response.

Tortorella Roasts Farabee After Benching

Immediately after the game Torts was asked what went into the decision to bench Farabee. In his dry and straightforward nature, Tortorella answered the question.
"I'm missing your question. Are you asking me why I sat Joel? Because he didn't listen. I'll answer your question that way."

When asked to elaborate on what he meant by Joel not listening Tortorella declined to give more insight.
"None of your business. Come on, guys, you know I'm no going to go there. If you want me to keep answering questions here, don't bring me into that spot."
This will be one of those player-and-coach moments that we likely will not get a further look into. The Flyers' next game will be telling as to whether Farabee learned his lesson and began listening to whatever Tortorella is trying to share.
