After being healthy scratched for the game against the Flyers on Saturday, Patrik Laine opened up on his feelings about the decision.

Laine Says Scratch Was Most Embarrassing Thing That Has Happened To Him

Patrik Laine, like the Columbus Blue Jackets in general, has struggled this season. His 3 points in 9 games are not up to expectations, especially as he is making $8.7 million a year.
His struggles and disappointments were highlighted over the weekend when Blue Jackets head coach Pascal Vincent decided to scratch Laine for the game against the Flyers.
Now, Laine has opened up about the decision and how it made him feel.

«Over my career, it's probably the most embarrassing thing that's happened to me. I'm not happy about that. They know that. It is what it is. It's over and done.»

Laine Not Happy With Decision and Speculation Around a Trade has Been Rumored

Obviously, keeping Laine happy isn't the main job of Vincent. That would be to win games in whatever manner he sees fit. However, it is clear that the Columbus Blue Jackets' season is becoming a hot mess.

The Blue Jackets were forced to fire head coach Mike Babcock before the season even started after being criticized by many for even hiring him in the first place. Now, they sit at the bottom of the Metro Division a quarter of the way into the season.
It's likely they will become sellers at the trade deadline. If Laine isn't happy, he might be looking for a trade out of town to get himself out of the current Blue Jackets' mess.
I'm sure this will stoke the «Trade Laine» fires.
