The Chicago Blackhawks have had a rough start to the season. However, their 5-8 record is actually better than many might have expected based on how the team played last year. Connor Bedard has breathed life into his new team. However, the Hawks will now be without one of their key players long-term.

Blackhawks lose Athanasiou Long-Term

Andreas Athanasiou was not seen at the team's morning skate this morning. The reason is an injury he sustained in his last game, which forced him to exit the contest early. While fans were optimistic that he might not miss extended time, it seems now that that is not the case.

According to multiple souces, the veteran forward is out week-to-week with a lower-body injury. The Hawks have eight games left on their schedule for the month of November.

Injuries Amassing For Chicago Blackhawks

Athanasiou was not the only player to leave the Hawks last game early. Taylor Hall and Jared Tinordi both left the game early as well. Tinordi was officially placed on injured reserve retroactive to November 9th following the game.
The team has already been somewhat top-heavy in terms of scoring but with these injuries, Bedard is going to have to work overtime to keep his team competitive. Their next game is not until Thursday though, so some of these players have a little time to recover.
