Matthew Tkachuk had a massive change of scenery last summer when he was traded from the Calgary Flames to the Florida Panthers. Now the Panthers star has commented on what it's like playing in a Canadian market versus an American market.

Tkachuk Dishes On The Maple Leafs

As most hockey fans are aware the Toronto market is probably the most difficult hockey market to play in. Matthew Tkachuk commented on the Maple Leafs and the media storm that follows them everywhere they go.

And it's not their fault; it's kind of just the way it is. I know they're mentally tough enough, and I know them well and they've been able to handle it and have kept getting better and better

Playing in Canada is very different with the spotlight and the history. What I've noticed in the difference between playing in Canada and Florida is the highs and lows. So I think for them, maybe, and they're unbelievable talents, but unless they win the Stanley Cup, they're basically crucified.

Tkachuk provides some strong praise to the Maple Leafs and other Canadian markets for the extra things they have to put up with. He acknowledges that highs and lows are easier to manage and level out in an American market like Florida. Tkachuk also decided to comment on whether he would consider returning to a Canadian market in the future.

Tkachuk Takes Massive Shot At Canadian Markets

In another part of the interview, Matthew Tkachuk commented on playing in a Canadian market in the future.

But I know, seeing it from afar, nothing against here, but I know I wouldn't want to deal with it on any given day

Matthew Tkachuk takes a shot at the fans and media of Canadian markets saying they are too much for him to deal with. Luckily for Tkachuk, he is settled in with the Florida Panthers as one of the best players in the league.

His comments are likely to upset some Canadian fans while others will take pride in their passion and standards for their teams. It will be interesting to see the reception that Tkachuk gets from Canadian crowds going forward.
