Wayne Simmonds has had a storied career so far, spending the last few seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Although the 35-year-old is getting older, some analysts are eyeing a potential return for Simmer.

Simmonds' Role

During his days as a Flyer, Simmonds was a complete player, putting up 60 points some years with 30 goals. However, as he has gotten older, his production has declined.

In the past few seasons, he has filled more of an enforcer and leadership role with the Leafs, only seeing just over 7 minutes of ice time last year.

Potential PTO?

Simmonds could be a great option for the Flyers to offer a PTO, since he is familiar with the City and likely has some sentimental value tied into the orange and black. It's likely that he has some gas left in the tank, and could be a valuable leadership role for the team, similar to Spezza in his last few years as a Leaf.

Only time, and Simmonds himself, will tell whether or not he continues his hockey career this season. If he does, it would be a great story to see him retire in Philadelphia.
