The Toronto Maple Leafs made several additions to their roster this offseason. The main acquisitions were John Klingberg, Tyler Bertuzzi, and Max Domi. New reports suggest that a couple of these players are looking to be in Toronto long-term.

NHL Insider Confirms Bertuzzi Is Looking To Stay In Toronto

Tyler Bertuzzi was brought into Toronto to provide grit and depth scoring. Now after only a few months of being signed new information has come out that both sides may be looking into an extension. Elliotte Friedman joined SN590 to talk about the Bertuzzi situation.

Elliotte Friedman on SN590: "I am of the belief that Toronto wanted to sign Tyler Bertuzzi longer and I think Bertuzzi wanted to sign longer but they didn't have the ability to do it now. What does that mean after Jan 1st?"

As Friedman mentions the extension wouldn't be able to be official until January 1st. This is because Bertuzzi recently signed his contract and is not eligible for an extension until January 1st.

Leafs Depth Want To Stay

Tyler Bertuzzi is now the second Leafs signing of the summer to express interest in sticking around. Max Domi has also been reported to want to sign long-term in Toronto as well. Of course, Domi's dad Tie was a long-time Leaf and Max basically grew up in the Leafs locker room.

If things go well for the pair to start the season they could earn themselves long-term contracts. if they are able to step up it may also take the pressure off of having to get a William Nylander extension done.
