The NHL's iron man may be missing out on a massive milestone if he fails to sign a contract.

Kessel's Career

Phil Kessel is an enigma in all of hockey. After being drafted 5th overall by the Bruins back in 2007, he has gone on to play for multiple teams and not miss a game for any of them. To play that many games straight is truly a feat that few could ever dream of reaching.

Kessel has won three Stanley Cups during his career; two with the Penguins and another with the Golden Knights.

With a career as successful as Kessel's, it does not seem he is missing out on much but he is in danger of not reaching one of the biggest possible milestones.

Kessel in Danger of Missing Milestone

Throughout his 1,294-game career, Kessel has registered 992 career points, eight shy of 1,000. Currently, without an NHL contract, Kessel may be done in the NHL despite being so close to this milestone.

While he may not get a chance with a contending team, a young team could utilize his services and have him as a locker-room presence but in the latter half of August, there has been no word on such a move.
