According to a report from the Ottawa Sun's Bruce Garrioch, the sale of the team is expected in the next few months, and with that is the potential return of former captain Daniel Alfredsson.

Postmedia reported in June that Andlauer sat down with former Ottawa captain Daniel Alfredsson to discuss a job with the Senators. The talk in hockey circles is the 50-year-old Hockey Hall of Famer would like to play a role in the club's player development.

It's expected that will be the case once the sale is closed.

That report has Alfredsson interested in a role with the player development department, and given the young talents they have coming through the organization, it's the perfect fit for him.

A franchise legend

Alfredsson spent all but one year of his 18-year career in Ottawa, posting an impressive 426 goals and 1,108 points over 1,178 games, and is now returning to help the franchise he's become synonymous with.

The Eastern Conference is as tough as its ever been right now, and with a talented group, the Senators have a chance to prove some people wrong, and with an eye on the future, this could be the perfect reunion for both parties.
