After the Vegas Golden Knights announced recently that they had signed goaltender Robin Lehner to a five-year contract, it was pretty well a given that they were going to be moving Marc-Andre Fleury this offseason.

Fleury, 35, has been one of the NHL's best goaltenders for over a decade now. However, he struggled this past season with the Golden Knights, posting a 2.77 goals against average and a .905 save percentage. As a result, it sounds like teams aren't exactly lining up to trade for the Sorel, Quebec native.

Golden Knights reporter Justin Emerson tweeted out Tuesday afternoon that they have reportedly offered a second-round pick to a team to take just half of Fleury's salary, but teams are letting Knights general manager Kelly McCrimmon know they want a first-round pick as well. As of now, they are slated to select 29th at tonight's draft.

Although a team giving up both a first and second round pick for nothing doesn't sound likely, the Golden Knights need to shed some salary. Fleury currently has two years remaining on a deal that pays him $7 million per season, meaning that if the Golden Knights were to eat half of his salary, a team acquiring him would only take on a cap hit of $3.5 million. Receiving a first and second round pick, along with a Stanley Cup winning goalie in Fleury, would be a fantastic trade for just about any team in the league.
