NHL Legend Passes Away at 80

NHL legend Billy MacMillan passed away this past weekend.

Billy MacMillan passed away at the age of 80 on Saturday.

MacMillan is an NHL legend having been the first coach of the New Jersey Devils, and one of the first GMs of the Colorado Rockies.

MacMillan was beloved for his contributions to the expansion of the sport. While he is more well-known for his off-ice contributions, he also provided on-ice contributions as well.

Throughout his NHL career spent with the Toronto Maple Leafs, the New York Islanders, and the Atlanta Flames, MacMillan played in 446 games and scored 74 goals and 154 total points.

Former NHL GM Doug Maclean spoke on the passing of MacMillan.


MacMillan is a member of the PEI Hall of Fame. He is a true story of determination, overcoming adversity, and triumph.
